Chrome devices running agentM connect to Google services in order to sync device configuration from Google’s Chrome Device Management (CDM) portal. This configuration information contains information necessary for a meldCX device to function, including (but not limited to):
- The latest agentM application version
- Chrome OS update policies
- Virtual keyboard settings
Without access to Google services the device will not be able to download and install the latest agentM and Chrome OS versions, which may include bug fixes and stability improvements.
If you are seeing errors about connecting to Google IP addresses, the error message will display the IP addresses which need to be accessible but that the device cannot connect to. The most common cause of this issue is network blacklists or whitelists.
