When testing applications in a Dev environment it is not always feasible to build a packaged app every time you make a change. Much like running a development server locally, Meld devices can targer your local server, so long as;
- your device accepts connections from devices on private network and
- your device is connected to the same access point as your local server.
Steps to Follow
1. Start up your development server, ensuring all of the points from the preface are valid.
2. Create a URL app, that points to the IP address hosting your Dev Server. You can do this by following the steps detailed below:
a) Please select the Applications tab in your meldCX Console
b) Click the 'Create App' button
c) Please select 'Web UR' for your choice of app type
c) Name your app and select an application logo
d) Complete create a versioning name, select 'stable' and 'published' and place the full URL
of your dev server
PLEASE NOTE: The full url here is 'http://192.168.1.151:8000, you will need to change
this as appropriate for your use case.
e) Once you are done, proceed to schedule the application to your relevant device.
If for some reason this doesn't work, please view the following URL troubleshooting guide
Important note: You do not have to restart the device every time you make a change. Click on the device you wish to manage and simply go to the "HEALTH" tab and click "CLEAR CACHE" on the bottom right. This will clear everything that is running in the current webview and force a reload, which is much quicker than a restart.
